Inkster Marine has joined the cluster

Inkster Marine is a team of specialists providing technical and operational support services to all maritime sectors. Now they have joined Ocean Hyway Cluster.

Inkster Marine AS provides full-life-cycle technical and operational support. Integration of Hydrogen Based Fuel Systems on vessels is their main focus and their long experience with hazardous systems comes in handy when working with ground-breaking hydrogen technologies.

The company has already found their place and mission on how to realize the hydrogen value chain:

Currently, most of our time is spent on hydrogen related projects including technical support to the development of a high-capacity compressed hydrogen bunkering system and also the development of a liquid hydrogen containment and handling system. When it comes to novel fuel systems, regulatory approval is a complex topic and we can provide both technical and operational support such projects by managing and coordinating approval processes and continuing support right through to final commissioning, says Richard Inkster, CEO of Inkster Marine.

Based on the west coast of Norway, in the heart of the Norwegian Maritime Cluster, Inkster Marine supports all maritime sectors throughout the world with industry leading experience in the design and integration of Hydrogen Based Fuel Systems within marine applications:

We are applying our experience with ship design and shipbuilding to the integration of new fuel technologies. From a regulatory and operational point of view, the application of hydrogen-based fuel systems onboard vessels presents several challenges to technology developers, vessel designers and vessel owners. We are focusing on using our existing track record with vessel design, systems integration and systems commissioning and expanding our competence in order to provide support to projects which use novel zero carbon fuel systems, he continues.

Why did you want to become a part of the cluster?

Although the need for collaboration has become a bit of a cliché in the last couple of years, it is nevertheless vital for us if we are to succeed with the safe and efficient introduction of new fuel types. The cluster provides a necessary central hub to foster this collaboration and raise awareness between all members of each other’s capabilities and requirements. We see already that by being active members of the cluster, we have quickly increased our knowledge of what others are doing or can do. This has led to us reaching out for support from others in some areas in the same way that we hope other organizations within the cluster will reach out to us when they see we can help with the integration of their technology in maritime applications.
